Maria Ferré


Maria Ferré completed her studies in classic guitar at the National Music Conservatoire of Barcelona (Spain) where she qualified. Soon after obtaining her diploma, in Barcelona, Maria, started her academic career teaching students at the Conservatoire but also performing live on numerous occasions. At this point, ancient music became her main interest. She began studying under Antoni Baiget at the Conservatoire ‘de Vila-seca’ (Spain) focusing on playing the lute, theorbo and other related instruments.  Her interest matured further when she moved to Germany to study lute under Rolf Lislevand at the ‘Staatliche Hochschule für Musik’ in Trossingen. Here, she obtained her Diploma in Ancient Music. These years proven very fruitful attending masterclasses and courses with several prestigious musicians. Among all: B. Pornon, P. Montelliet, J. Savall, J. Tubery, Ch. Toet, David Plantier, Montserrat Figueras, Evelyn Tubb, Anthony Rooley, Dominique Vellard. At the same time, Maria, participated into numerous music projects and festivals in different Countries including Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, France, Mexico, USA both as solo and ‘camera’ player with different ‘ensembles’ like ‘United Continuo Service’, ‘Ensemble KussKuss’, ‘duo nox-ferré’, ‘duo M&M’, ‘Ensemble l’Art du Bois’ etc. After having attended Masterclasses in Norway, Spain and USA, in 2003 Maria settled in Basel (Switzerland), where she started studying for a doctorate degree at the ‘Schola Cantorum Basiliensis’ under Hopkinson Smith. Since 2004 she has played for the orchestra ‘Ambronay Baroque Orquestre-Opera’ directed by Christoph Rosset and she has taken part in the ‘Oratorio’ ‘la Resurrezione’ by Haendel under the direction of Fabio Biondi.
